Cities, towns and villages throughout Pakistan face problems with water supply, sanitation and drainage services.

Water Supply Management Requirement and Options (November 2006)

Water supply services in both urban and rural areas of City District Faisalabad are unsatisfactory. Less than 15% of villages within the City District have piped water systems. The situation in towns is little better, with water supply coverage less than 50% in all towns and only about 25% of registered consumers regularly paying bills.

This report presents details results of an investigation of the options for bringing the rural water supply scheme back into operation, either as originally designed or in modified form. The investigation covered both demand for a piped water service and the options for supplying that service. The former involved interviews with village residents and a formal questionnaire survey.

This report presents details results of an investigation of the options for bringing the urban water supply scheme back into proper operational. The report also concerned with the short and longer-term options for improving water supply services in Jaranwala town.

This is the first Strategic Operational Plan, for Jaranwala TMA Faisalabad that specifically targets the improvement of Water and Sanitation Sector. It has been developed after a very detailed analysis
undertaken of the Tehsil Officer Infrastructure & Services’ department and other departments of Jaranwala TMA over the last 6 months.
